£11m forgotten man has a chance to redeem himself at Leeds United – Daniel Farke must not ignore him

Leeds United are dealing with several fires at the business end of the season. A run of one win in six has damaged their chances of earning automatic promotion, and injuries to two big players have further compounded their problems. However, it could serve as the background for a forgotten Leeds star to step up and be the hero at Elland Road.

Daniel Farke and his Leeds United players are under serious pressure to get their season back on track ahead of facing Middlesbrough at the Riverside Stadium tonight.

Leeds are out of the automatic promotion spots, and while it is still very tight at the top, the Whites have one win in six, and they need something positive to happen soon.

The injuries to Joe Rothwell and Pascal Struijk have further increased their problems at the business end of the season. However, one Leeds star now has a real chance to redeem his Leeds career in the coming weeks.

He is an option for Leeds United in defence

Max Wober has had a frustrating season at Leeds. He was ignored in the first couple of months of the campaign, but a knee injury on international duty further exacerbated his situation.

He underwent knee surgery earlier this season and has been training with the rest of the Leeds squad over the last two weeks.

The Austrian is a left-sided defender who could replace Struijk in the team during the Belgian’s absence from injury.

Farke is expected to drop Ethan Ampadu in defence and bring Ilia Gruev in midfielder. However, the Leeds boss has a chance to use Wober at the heart of his defence.

The Leeds boss indicated earlier in the season that he prefers Ampadu in midfield, and this is his chance to throw Wober into the team.

Farke must give him a chance

The Leeds manager loves Ampadu in midfield due to his ability to dictate play, and dropping him into the defence would be a problem for the team.

Wober gives him the chance to continue the Leeds captain in midfield while putting an international defender in place of the injured Struijk.

The Austrian has been itching for a chance to prove himself at Leeds this season, and the Belgian’s unfortunate injury has arrived as an opportunity.

He is not one of the most popular members of the squad due to his leaving Leeds on loan following their relegation, and has been more or less a bit part player this season, even when he has not been injured.

This is Wober’s chance to redeem himself as a Leeds player, and Farke must give him that opportunity.
