Leeds United knew that heading into the Premier League, some difficult decisions would have to be made to the squad. Some of the players that lead the promotion charge would not be regulars in the top flight.
And the summer transfer window reflected this; 10 new signings came through the door at Elland Road. That lead to a host of departures with many being given the green light by Daniel Farke to leave. The summer saw the Whites add a new goalkeeper, some defenders, midfielder and most importantly, strikers.
When the season ended, there were concerns about who would lead the line in the Premier League. Many were skeptical about Joel Piroe even though he won the golden boot in the Championship.
Dominic Calvert-Lewin admits he was aware of what was said before he joined Leeds United
Leeds still went ahead to sign Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Lukas Nmecha on free transfers. The arrival of the former Everton man came with a lot of scrutiny, with many concerned about his reported £125,000 per week wages, considering his injury record. The 28-year old now admits that he was aware of the reviews before he joined the club:
“I was aware of the mixed reviews of me signing for Leeds among the fanbase,” Calvert-Lewin told the Mirror.

“When I did join, maybe they were hoping for a big money signing and what that represents.
“But I know the quality that I have and what I would bring and I’ve slowly started to feel the shift and I always knew it would happen when I started to show my quality and what I bring to the table so it’s been great to feel that support from the fanbase.”
