£15m Leeds United man could leave in the ‘next 24 hours’ in shock transfer

Leeds United brought the January transfer window to a close without making a deadline-day signing, with Facundo Buonanotte’s loan move from Brighton standing as their only winter addition.

The club had hoped to add a striker but ultimately refused to engage in a bidding war for primary target Jorgen Strand Larsen, who completed a move to Crystal Palace for a fee that could rise to £48m.

Leeds were also credited with interest in former Aston Villa forward Jhon Duran and launched a late loan bid for Krasnodar skipper Eduard Spertsyan, but neither move materialised before the deadline.

However, the Whites could still sanction sales even after the window closes in most of Europe, and a key summer signing in Lucas Perri could be in for a shock exit.

Besiktas have their eyes on Leeds goalkeeper Lucas Perri

Lucas Perri lost his place in the team after the 4-3 defeat at Newcastle United and has been replaced by Karl Darlow in goal.

Leeds head coach Daniel Farke remains unconvinced by the Brazilian’s displays since his arrival last summer, with significant question marks hanging over his long-term future at the club.

He could be offered an immediate exit from Leeds this week. According to Turkish journalist Tugba Hacibayramoglu, Perri is on Besiktas’ shortlist of targets.

The Turkish giants want to sign a goalkeeper before the transfer window in Turkey closes on Friday, and they are looking at several options.

They have their eyes on Illan Meslier, and it has been claimed that Perri is the other goalkeeper Besiktas are considering this week

The Turkish outfit want to finalise the arrival of a new goalkeeper in the ‘next 24 hours’, which could mean Perri could leave sooner than we think.

It remains to be seen whether Leeds are ready to give up on Perri this early or wait until the summer to finalise a decision on his future.

Will Leeds sell Perri?

Perri has not been convincing since joining Leeds, and his performances have been too inconsistent for a goalkeeper wanting to be the number one at a Premier League club.

However, it is unclear whether Leeds are annoyed enough to sell him this week, as they didn’t sign a new goalkeeper in the winter window.

Saves from Outside the Box 8

Given Karl Darlow’s inconsistencies, Perri has every chance to regain his place in the team in the coming weeks and prove his mettle again at Elland Road.

Besiktas also have their eyes on Meslier, and Leeds would prefer to sanction his departure over a goalkeeper they signed last summer to replace the Frenchman.

Most leeds fans were expecting needed additions in January, not a big signing or needless ones, to . The 49s are all talk – they promise so much as deliver so little. Arguable, Leeds had a strong tream base than Sunderland when we were promoted. Also more time, if not money, than Sunderland to plan and get new additions. How long have Leeds been deficient in a number of positions and failed to act timeously to get someone in. They seem to spend more focus on the youth players than the first team squad, is this because they buy in to sell on only? The argument of saying there is no money or options is wearing thin. If we are lucky enough the avoid relegation, you can bet the same old excuses with resurface when it comes to spending in the summer. The 49s have had investment in Leeds United… Read more »
