A host of Leeds United players are on international duty this week, but the conversation around the transfer deadline still exists. Many are frustrated that the club failed to sign a player before the deadline.
Daniel Farke had asked for some reinforcements in attack even after Leeds signed Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Noah Okafor. The Whites pushed to sign Harry Wilson, but Fulham pulled the plug at the last minute.
This international break is a great time for some of the club’s latest signings to stretch their leg, as not all of them have had multiple games this season. The likes of Noah Okafor and Sebastiaan Bornauw remain at Thorp Arch during the international break. Dan James, Karl Darlow and Gabriel Gudmundsson are among those that have been called up this past week.

Leeds United defender singled out after poor game

Jaka Bijol was in action for Slovenia in their 2-2 draw against Sweden. The Leeds man had to go up against some of the Premier League’s best attacking talents in Alexander Isak and Viktor Gyokeres. Bijol came off worst in the battle between defenders and attackers, as Slovenian media rated him poorly in the game.
Sportsdunia gave him a 5.5/10 rating after he was directly involved in a goal conceded by his team:
“A game he’ll want to forget,” the excerpt read. “He made a glaring error that led directly to a goal, which completely undermined his other contributions. Despite making 5 interceptions, that single moment of madness cost his team dearly. He looked shaky and bereft of confidence after that.”
Bijol will have the chance to redeem himself when Slovenia take on Switzerland on Monday.
Not the best showing from the new signing
From all accounts, the defender was not at his best on Friday night. But Leeds signed him for a reason – he was one of the best center backs in Serie A last season. He has been inactive so far, making just one start against Sheffield Wednesday. Hopefully he shakes this off and bounces back when Leeds are in action after the international break.
