Leeds United are lurching towards missing out on automatic promotion for the second year running after winning just one of their last five Championship games. The 2-2 draw at home against Swansea City has damaged confidence, despite Leeds still sitting second in the table. Farke will need to get bold and brave with his team selection when his side take on Luton Town on Saturday.
Illan Meslier has grabbed the headlines with another error-prone performance, and the Leeds United goalkeeper is getting brickbats for throwing away more points at Elland Road.
However, the rest of the Leeds team were poor as well, and Swansea deserved to get something from the game, if not a win, for the performance they put in on Saturday.
Leeds players will find it easy to hide behind Meslier’s bad performance, but hard questions need to be asked about a few of the other stars whose performance levels have dropped significantly.
If Farke wants a reaction from these players, the Leeds boss needs to be bold and brave and take out a few of these stars from the team against Luton to jolt the team back to life.
This Leeds United star needs a stint on the bench again
Manor Solomon’s form, until recently, was powering Leeds towards the Premier League, but his performances have dipped significantly over the last few weeks.
Solomon has not scored or assisted a goal since the 4-0 away win at Watford in February and has gone seven games without making a goal contribution.
Leeds are keen to sign him on a permanent deal if they get promoted, but the future can wait as the club have a bigger fish to fry with seven games remaining.
Illan Meslier, Brenden Aaronson and Joe Rothwell could lose their places in the team at Luton, but Farke needs to show that he is willing to ruffle a few feathers, by dropping Solomon to the bench.
The winger has not performed in the last few games, and it is time Largie Ramazani is given a chance to prove his worth on the left-hand side of the attack.
A new look attack could spark a revival
Leeds need some inspiration to get out of their current rut, and winning against Luton Town on Saturday is almost a necessity at this stage of the season.
Farke must not shy away from providing a real jolt to the team, to get them back on track, and ruffling a few feathers with his team selection could be a good trick.
Can you name these past and present Leeds United players?
Ramazani should replace Solomon on the right flank, and Brenden Aaronson has to be dropped from the team to make way for Wilfried Gnonto at Luton.
A new look attack with Ramazani and Gnonto in the starting eleven could spark some sort of revival against Luton as Leeds desperately seek inspiration.
