£16m Leeds United target tipped to leave Championship rivals – It has to be a cut-price deal

Leeds United cannot afford to think about transfers next summer when they are battling to secure promotion to the Premier League. However, their recruitment team have already identified potential targets and are waiting for the club to guarantee top-flight football next season. One of those targets has been tipped to seek a transfer in the next window.

Daniel Farke and his Leeds United players are focused on the automatic promotion race as they seek to return to winning ways when they take on Luton Town on Saturday.

However, Leeds have put down plans for the summer transfer window, and several players have been identified as potential targets with the understanding that they will be playing Premier League football next season.

Signing a couple of forwards is likely to be a priority for the next transfer window, and one of the strikers the club are tracking is now almost certain to seek a move in the summer.

“He will be wasting his time if he stays” – Ex-Striker insists Leeds United target will leave

Josh Sargent played Premier League football under Daniel Farke and the Leeds boss remains a firm admirer of the forward with a willingness to take him to Elland Road.

Leeds will consider signing him if they get promoted, and former Norwich striker Chris Sutton admitted that the forward would be wasting his time if he stays with the Canaries.

He insisted that Sargent must move on, as there is no guarantee Norwich will have a better season next year.

“I love Norwich, but he can’t waste his time playing another season here when the truth is that neither we nor Johannes Hoff Thorup know what we’re going to get from week to week”, Sutton wrote in his column for the Pink Un.

“There is no guarantee that next season will be a better one.”

It needs to be a cut-price deal

If Leeds manage to get over the line and earn promotion to the Premier League despite their poor run of form, they will have a big challenge on their hands.

Daniel Farke has already indicated that the owners need to invest heavily in the infrastructure and new players if they want to compete in the top flight.

However, Leeds will not have an unlimited budget, and the Whites need to pick up bargain deals if they want to pad out the squad depth with good players.

Sargent struggled in the Premier League previously, but the player has matured since then. However, Leeds should walk away from the negotiations if Norwich end up demanding an exorbitant fee for the American.
