£25M Leeds United target’s exit all but confirmed – club already lining up bid for replacement

Leeds United have much work to do just days after lifting the Championship. The club topped off a great season with a trophy win. 100 points, promotion, a league title for Daniel Farke and the team is an immense achievement.

Now, the hard work begins for the club. Leeds chairman Paraag Marathe has ensured that the club would have access to funds to sign players in the summer. A few weeks ago, Daniel Farke confirmed that he and the recruitment team are already working behind the scenes:

”We’ve had a few meeting already [re strategic planning]. Many structural and personal changes in the past. It’s important we sit down together and have clarity over budget. Scouts and data analysts doing a very good job.

Right now we will prepare for next season with Robbie and Alex – they are in different roles now and we have to make sure the processes are right.”

Illan Meslier was dropped to the bench during the run in. Karl Darlow filled in till the end of the season, and Leeds lifted the league title with the veteran in goal. Now, rumours have emerged that Meslier could depart Elland Road in the summer.

Aaron Ramsdale was one of the biggest names linked with a move to the Whites in recent weeks. Now, it has been revealed that the Southampton keeper is on his way out of the club. Alan Nixon has reported that the Saints are preparing for his exit, and have lined up a replacement in Sunderland’s Anthony Patterson.

Leeds are said to be interested in Ramsdale, who has a £25million release clause in his contract.

Leeds can find better options than Ramsdale

£25million for an inconsistent keeper is not a deal Leeds United should be looking at. There are multiple options in the market for less fees. The club could even find some good options in the Championship. A good keeper could be the difference between survival and relegation from the Premier League. So Leeds need to find a very good one.
