£26m Leeds United bid ‘confirmed’ for highly-rated Serie A attacker

Leeds United are certainly showing plenty of ambition so far in the January transfer window.

The 49ers managed to secure the services of Facundo Buonanotte in a relatively stealthy fashion, with most being kept completley in the dark regarding the move until the Argentinian was pictured posing with United’s famous white shirt.

Leeds’ transfer business does not look to have stopped with that loan deal for Buonanotte, however, with the Whites chasing the signature of Wolves striker Jorgen Strand Larsen, but completing a move for the Norwegian forward now looks unlikely.

Although the Whites may have suffered a setback when it comes to securing a new striker, a new creative attacker could soon be making his way to Elland Road.

Leeds United launch bid for Martin Baturina

Baturina, 22, has previously been linked with a move to West Yorkshire; however, according to recent reports from Tuttosport in their print edition on Thursday, 22 January, Leeds have sent a bid of just over £26million to Como for the Croatian.

The Serie A outfit, who are currently managed by Cesc Fabregas, are said to have already rejected this bid, meaning Leeds supporters’ wait to see Baturina in a white shirt looks destined to continue.

Links between Baturina and Leeds are not new, with United also reportedly being interested in the youngster all the way back in 2024.

Whether Leeds are going to come back in with an increased bid remains to be seen, but the 49ers could once again be forced to pivot and evaluate other alternative transfer targets.

Data suggests Martin Baturina was phenomenal in his latest appearance for Como

To further rub salt in the wounds after seemingly missing out again on Baturina for now, the Croatian was exceptional in his latest appearance for Como in their 3-0 away win over Lazio in Serie A.

With three goals and two assists in just 425 total minutes in Serie A this season, the youngster is proving that he is more than able to cut it in one of the top leagues in Europe.

Whilst this may give Leeds confidence that Baturina can adapt to the Premier League should he eventually end up at Elland Road, his recent form will surely see his value skyrocket even further.
