A Leeds United target could complete a permanent move during the January transfer window. The player has apparently decided to move on from his current club.
Daniel Farke’s men have struggled in the attacking front this season. It is no secret that the team requires some upgrades in the January window.
Under such circumstances, a Premier League player has just become available.
Leeds United target becomes available
Fabio Carvalho, the Portuguese attacking midfielder is on his way out of Brentford if reports are to be believed. The player seems to have fallen out of favour and has not been a regular in the line-up.
Carvalho was in the starting XI of Brentford’s season opening loss at Nottingham, playing the full 90 minutes. But he has since failed to hold a place in the opening line-up.
In his five appearances he has totalled just 96 minutes of playing time in the Premier League. The lack of time on the pitch has left him feeling frustrated. And now he is actively vying for a move away on loan or permanently.
It is understood any loan deal would also include the provision of making it permanent.
Fabio Carvalho will be a fit for Leeds
Despite not getting the minutes in the league, Carvalho has played all three The Bees EFL Carabao Cup games. Scoring twice in three games, the player is clearly in touch and raring to go.
Leeds have scored just 10 goals this season across competitions. Whereas with limited opportunities, Carvalho has three goals and an assist. One of those came as a last minute equaliser against Chelsea in the league.
Rejecting a move from Lyon, the midfielder who can also play on the left wing had chosen to fight for his place. But manager Keith Andrews has chosen to show more faith in his other options.
Any transfer would also entail some windfall for Liverpool. Anfield has a 17.5% sell-on clause, which means any selling price would give them some cash inflow.
Therefore it will be interesting to see whether Leeds does decide to splurge on the player. However, any such decision will come with PSR consequences.
Selling a few players may give them that wiggle room though.
