Daniel Farke is under more pressure at Leeds United following this past weekend’s result. Coming from the international break, everyone around the club kne how important the next few fixtures could be.
There were reports earlier in the month that Farke had been given a few games to get the season back on track. That was before the Brighton and Nottingham Forest games, and now each fixture becomes more and more crucial. Leeds lost just their second home game in the league this season on Saturday.
It was a similar feeling to their last defeat as Lukas Nmecha put the Whites in the lead just eight minutes into the game. Leeds took a 1-0 lead into halftime, but Villa responded in the second half with a goal from Morgan Rogers just three minutes into the second period. The midfielder once again stepped up to score what would be the winner in the 75th minute to seal the game.
Three managers the 49ers could hire today to instantly upgrade Leeds United
Things are looking bleak for Daniel Farke; in the Villa game, he once again failed to make the right changes to win. Unai Emery’s side were there for the taking, but the Whites failed to capitalise.
No decision has been made by the owners yet, but the time is drawing nearer on Farke’s time in West Yorkshire. Here are three managers who could come in and turn the club’s fortunes around completely.
Bo Svensson
The former Mainz boss has been out of a job since last year. Svensson is a coach who thrives with underdog teams and is okay with coaching a side that will not have a lot of the ball in games. He took Mainz from a mid-table club to UEFA competitions, and he could guide Leeds United to safety if given a chance.
| Club | Games Managed | Wins | Win Percentage |
|---|---|---|---|
| FC Liefering | 43 | 23 | 53.49% |
| 1. FSV Mainz 05 | 105 | 38 | 36.19% |
| Union Berlin | 17 | 5 | 29.41% |
| Total | 165 | 66 | 40% |
Marco Rose
A more attacking-minded coach, Marco Rose, has done a lot in his career. With many complaining about Leeds’ lack of attacking game plans, Rose could be the solution. He has coached high-scoring teams in his career and could be the upgrade needed at Elland Road.
| Club | Games | Wins |
|---|---|---|
| RB Leipzig | 124 | 69 |
| Borussia Dortmund | 46 | 27 |
| Borussia Mönchengladbach | 88 | 41 |
| Red Bull Salzburg | 114 | 82 |
| Lokomotive Leipzig | 30 | 9 |
Brendan Rodgers
Brendan Rodgers would be a huge coup considering his profile; the former Liverpool and Celtic boss comes with a lot of experience. It could come in handy for a side like Leeds, who need all the help they can get to stay up in the Premier League.
| Club | Games | Wins |
|---|---|---|
| Watford | 31 | 14 |
| Reading | 23 | 6 |
| Swansea City | 96 | 43 |
| Liverpool | 166 | 85 |
| Celtic (combined spells) | 292 | 201 |
| Leicester City | 204 | 96 |
Realistically, there will not be a lot of top coaches lining up to take the hot seat at Elland Road. Anyone who joins the club from now till the end of the season has a huge task on his hands. Implementing a new system and style in a team that has had one manager for three seasons would be difficult.
On the other hand, the owners need to be proactive, considering that their Premier League future is on the line. Deciding on Daniel Farke early could be the catalyst for the rest of the season.
