£300M American owners eye shock move for Leeds United star – Whites ‘ready to sell’

The first few weeks of the summer transfer window have seen Leeds United focus on reshaping the squad. Selling some players has been the priority.

Illan Meslier was offered to multiple clubs in an effort to move him on. Max Wober also announced that Leeds were keen on selling him this summer. Elland Road is also anticipating one huge departure, as they wait for Junior Firpo’s move to Real Betis.

So far, only one addition has been made to the first team squad, Lukas Nmecha was announced at the latest signing over the weekend.

Wrexham were recently linked with a move for Patrick Bamford, but the club’s executive came out to deny the links. Now, it looks like the newly promoted Championship side have set their sights on another Leeds United player. TEAMtalk are reporting that the American owned side are keen on a move for Joe Gelhardt. Wrexham’s owners are keen on adding quality to their squad as they prepare for next season in the Championship.

The 23-year old has been open to leaving Elland Road since last year. At the end of his loan spell at Hull City, he said in his goodbye message that ‘he enjoyed his football’.

“It’s been good. I’ve enjoyed my football so much here, the lads, the staff and the fans, just the club in general. I love it here, so thanks to the manager for trusting me and getting me to enjoy my football.”

Leeds put Gelhardt and two other players up for sale in the first week of the transfer window.

Gelhardt needs to leave after Nmecha arrival

With the arrival of Lukas Nmecha, any hope of Joe Gelhardt making the squad for next season is close to over. So the best thing for the player is to seek a move away. Wrexham could be a great destination for the 23-year old. And based off his last few loan spells in the Championship, he can easily perform at that level.

We are all aware that Joffy will be leaving, but Nmecha has been bought so that they can sell Mateo Joseph for a fee of less them 8 mill, what a joke.
