After a smooth summer window, Leeds United planned a few signings for the next few weeks. Unfortunately, the club missed out on one of their major targets.

Leeds had planned to sign Igor Paixao, and were monitoring a move for Fulham star Rodrigo Muniz. Marseille got involved for the Feyenoord star, but the Whites observed the situation. When a deal could not be agreed, Leeds sent in their offer. The club was convinced that they were the front runners in the deal, only for the Brazilian to choose a move to France in the end.

It was a huge blow, as Leeds were convinced the winger could come in and provide immediate impact. Paixao and his representatives were convinced of the initial proposal.

A move for Rodrigo Muniz could also be on the rocks, after this latest development. Graeme Bailey revealed that a new contract offer is being prepared:

“…Fulham remain in talks over a new deal, however.

“They still want to keep him, but until they get the new deal signed, it’s not going to stop other people offering him elsewhere. He’s a good Premier League striker with a high ceiling.”

The Brazilian completed his move to Ligue 1 side Marseille on a long term deal. Paixao has now been officially unveiled in France. When asked why he chose the move, he explained:

“That’s an easy question. OM is a club with values. It’s very special for me. I want to give my all. It’s a big responsibility, we’re going to do something great.”

“This city is full of energy, and it motivates me. When I step on the pitch at the Vélodrome, I want to fight for these people,” said Paixao.

“I can’t wait to play in front of these fans. It’s going to be something special.”

Leeds pursuing El Khannouss as an alternative

There has been contact between Leeds and Leicester’s Bilal El Khannouss.

The latest development is that the Whites have held talks with the player’s representatives. It is believed that a formal offer will be submitted in the upcoming days.

Jack Harrison could have a bigger role than planned

Now that Daniel Farke has revealed that Jack Harrison could be part of the team next season, the winger could be thrust into an unexpected role. Leeds are yet to sign a wide player, which Farke has complained about. If no one is brought in before the deadline in a few weeks, Harrison could find himself playing more first team minutes than anyone believed he would get in the upcoming season.
