Leeds United will now be in the market for two attackers after the latest development in the squad. The Whites are set to lose one player this summer.
On Tuesday, Daniel Farke revealed that Mateo Joseph has asked to leave the club this summer. Joseph was set to join camp this week, but has changed his mind – he will remain in the UK for the short-term. When asked about the situation, Farke said:
”’…he came to me and to us and said that he wants a new challenge and would like to have a move. He has also hinted that he prefers a move to Spain due to his Spanish roots. And yes, obviously that was more or less his call. And therefore, okay, we just want players who are excited about the project to play with Leeds United in the best league in the world, here in the Premier League, who want to be here with us and want to be successful with us.”
Leeds are already looking at another winger and a striker.

One of their major targets for the wing position is Feyenoord star Igor Paixao.
But in the past few days, there have been links to a move to Marseille. YEP have now reported in-depth about the current status of a potential transfer to Leeds United.
According to the report, after four days, Marseille and Feyenoord are yet to reach a deal. Paixao is also keen on a move to the Premier League after the project Leeds presented to him. If the deal for the French side collapses, it opens the door for Leeds United. Currently, the Whites are yet to make an offer or discuss fees – whatever happens is in their control.
Sources in Holland believe that the player feels this summer is the time to move to the next step of his career.
Timothy Weah could be a factor
There have also been links with Timothy Weah. Similar to Paixao, Marseille are figuring out a deal for the Juventus star. But they have failed to match the asking price. The door is also open for Leeds, who are monitoring the situation.
The club is yet to make a move for the American.
Igor Paixao has Premier League quality
A player who scored twice in the Champions League, and hit 16 league goals in a top seven league in Europe is objectively a good player. His profile is highly sought after in Europe – a winger who can score and create.

The current options at Leeds do one or the other to a high degree, but not both. And for the fee mentioned, Leeds could be getting a quality signing.
