£30M has been set aside for ‘priority’ transfer – Leeds United will solve major problem this summer

Leeds United have sealed what will no doubt be one of their most memorable seasons in years. Winning the title on the final day, while hitting 100-points is a remarkable achievement from Daniel Farke’s side.

Bouncing back from the major disappointment of last summer has been difficult, but Leeds have navigated it with Farke in charge. Now the next step awaits them in the Premier League. The Whites return to the English top flight for the first time since 2023, when they were relegated.

The squad will need a lot of work this summer, especially in contrast to last season. Leeds had Crysencio Summerville, Archie Gray, Georginio Rutter and Glen Kamara among other names. You could argue last year’s team had more quality but still failed to win promotion. With the summer transfer window coming up, there are more questions than answers for this Leeds side.

There have already been multiple reports suggesting another striker will be brought in this summer. Leeds sources reportedly claim that they will not rely on Joel Piroe to be first choice in the Premier League. Some names have been linked, including Troy Parrott, but Jamie Vardy is the most high profile target so far.

Illan Meslier will almost certainly leave Elland Road, which leaves a big question mark on the club’s first choice keeper next season. Reports now claim the Whites are ready to address this problem. According to Sky Sports, Leeds United have set aside up to £30million to sign a new first choice goalkeeper for the Premier League.

Daniel Farke will have around £150million to spend, and a new stopper will arrive barring any late changes.

Who will be first choice keeper next season?

Illan Meslier is out this summer, and it is more likely Karl Darlow will stay as a backup keeper. The club have been linked with some high profile names like Aaron Ramsdale, and even Burnley keeper James Trafford.

Regardless of who the club sign, he has to be a quality option between the sticks. A good keeper could be the difference between survival and relegation in the Premier League.
