49ers cannot afford to miss out on 67-cap international winger in the summer – three Premier League rivals also interested

Harry Wilson Leeds United

Leeds United are slowly making their way to survival in the Premier League. Their run to end last year showed how good of a team they can be when everything is in place.

Daniel Farke has been a great coach this season, and even under intense criticism he has delivered. The start of the campaign saw fans criticize his team selection and substitutions, but since December, things have changed. Leeds are now a much better team, and with the results they have strung together, they look like a group that can survive relegation at the end of the season.

The 49ers have taken action this January, pushing to sign major targets. Leeds have already signed Facundo Buonanotte on loan for the rest of the season. The club got in contact with the player in December, and quickly sealed the deal last week. There are reports a striker could be added to the team, with Jorgen Strand Larsen and Patrick Agyemang said to be the major targets.

Leeds United need to seal Harry Wilson deal

During the summer, Leeds United tried to sign Fulham star Harry Wilson on deadline day. The club was scrambling to find alternatives after failing to land key targets. The London club chose to pull the plug, and Wilson stayed. In a recent interview earlier this season, Harry Wilson mentioned that he was happy to stay at Fulham, and that he would make a decision on his future in the summer.

His contract runs out in the coming months, and as of January, he is free to discuss a pre-contract with foreign clubs. According to talkSPORT, the 28-year old is not likely to renew his deal at Craven Cottage. Everton, Leeds, Sunderland and Crystal Palace are all monitoring the attacking midfielder’s situation going into the summer. Each club is keen to snap up a highly-rated free agent when the time comes.

Leeds need to fulfil non-negotiable factor for transfer

If Leeds are to stand any chance at winning the Wilson sweepstakes, they have to survive this season. They cannot afford to sign such a player if they go down to the Championship. The Whites would not be able to afford to pay him a huge sign-on fee or a large contract. So the best course of action is to make sure they secure another Premier League campaign if they really want the Welsh international to choose their club.
