49ers cannot afford to miss out on marquee signing for Leeds United in January – this will be their best chance

Leeds United

With 23 games gone in the Premier League, there is quite a clear picture of where Leeds United could end their season. From the start of the campaign, they were predicted to go down with the two other promoted teams.

Sunderland have broken the mould, and have been the surprise package of the season, and Burnley do look like they will be in the bottom three come the end of the campaign. Leeds on the other hand, are now putting on a huge fight for survival. Since the end of last year, the Whites have gone on an impressive run, putting points on the board towards safety.

The club are now six points above West Ham who are currently in 18th place. Seeing that the battle to survive could be intense, the 49ers have already dipped into the market to sign Facundo Buonanotte on loan for the rest of the season.

Leeds United cannot miss out on marquee signing

Their other plan is to swoop in and complete the signing of Wolves striker Jorgen Strand Larsen. It has been over a week since the club made contact with the Norwegian striker’s camp. His club are still holding out for their £40 million asking price, with Leeds still in talks to close the deal.

A new report from The I Paper has suggested that as the window closes, Wolves are losing their bargaining power in this transfer. Rob Edwards’ side will most likely be the first team to be relegated, and if they do, Strand Larsen will go for cheaper than his current valuation. This gives Leeds United a huge upper hand in their pursuit, alongside reports that insiders are confident a deal will be completed soon.

January is the best time to complete Strand Larsen move

It would be very disappointing if the 49ers are not able to wrap up this transfer. Everything is in place for the move to be successful; Wolves need to sell, and Strand Larsen is open to a move to a new environment. If the club idle around, a team like Crystal Palace could swoop in and take the player.

At this point of the campaign, Leeds need a consistent goalscorer; they cannot continue to rely on Dominic Calvert-Lewin alone. This signing could be the margin between survival and relegation at the end of the season.

It’s not going to happen, the 49s are ‘keen’ to sign, ie. All wind and water. As the Yanks like to say ‘ Hey, Bub crap or get off the John’ — They have no intention to sign Larsen all they have been doing is deciding what excuse they wish to publish next —- PSR problems, or We won’t sign players for the sake of it, or we have a good enough squad and would need to sell. West Ham and Forest are already strengthening their sides – pull you pants up Prag and step into reality. Farke has worked miracles with the players he has and needs the extra ones to keep this club up.

Leeds recruitment team is not good enough. Losing out on Larsen was obvious, so why have they not targeted viable alternatives? there are plenty of options if they are prepared to look. We have two strikers in on free, but injury prone, so surely spending £20million on a competent alternative is clearly the thing to do. If they were prepared to spend £39 million on Larsen – they could afford £30million on two other players that could be a better spend and will keep us up.
