49ers cannot afford to sell ‘forgotten’ £11m Leeds United star this January – fans may disagree

Leeds United Jack Harrison

Leeds United have got their season back on track following a run of four games without a defeat. A 4-1 win over Crystal Palace at home on Saturday further enhanced their credentials to survive in the Premier League.

However, Daniel Farke is aware that Leeds need to be active in the January transfer window to ensure that he has a squad that can run the full course and survive in the Premier League at the end of the season.

The Leeds boss is looking to add to his attack in the winter transfer window, and signing a striker to improve his forward options is likely to be oneof his priorities.

However, he will also be looking to keep his squad together amid discontent among some players who are not playing much football this season under Farke.

Leeds must not lose Jack Harrison in January

Jack Harrison returned to Leeds in the summer following a two-year loan spell at Everton. The fans wanted him gone, but Farke reintegrated him into the squad.

The winger has started just one Premier League game this season, and has featured 10 more times from the bench for the Whites.

Farke even talked about playing more games. However, the change to 5-3-2 has hurt Harrison, who has played just a minute of league football since the end of November.

He has mostly remained an unused substitute as Leeds roared back to form, and there doesn’t seem to be a player for him in the team at the moment.

However, Leeds still can’t afford to lose Harrison, as it will only hurt the strength of the squad, and Farke cannot just replace him with a new signing.

The winger still has a use in the Leeds squad, as there are areas of the team that are still thin and will need managing at some point later in the season.

Harrison can be a good cover for a couple of positions

Harrison has become an afterthought at Leeds amidst their resurgence in the last couple of weeks. The winger is nowhere in the conversation, almost as if everyone has forgotten about him.

However, he remains very much part of the squad, and Farke will need him to step up as cover for certain areas of the team.

Leeds are light in the wing-back areas, and Jayden Bogle and Gabriel Gudmundsson have been huge in their recent run of form in the last few weeks.

James Justin is a good cover, but he is mostly seen as a backup option for Bogle. Leeds need one more player to cover the left wing-back area.

If anything happens to Gudmundsson, Harrison is a player who can feature in that role, and he has the work rate to do a job in that area of the pitch.

Leeds will need their whole squad to survive, and the winger will have to step up at some point this season.
