49ers cannot fold under transfer pressure in January despite late approach planned for £15m Leeds United star

Jaka Bijol Leeds United

Some Leeds United signings have had a difficult time since arriving at the club in the summer. It was to be expected as the club added 10 new players to a squad that won the Championship title.

When fans were told that the club was going to spend to help maintain their top flight status, there was a bit of excitement. But as the signings started coming in, some were met with excitement while others just raised confusion all round. One of the deals that drew a lot of attention in the summer window was Dominic Calvert-Lewin. Most of the fanbase questioned the deal, but the striker is now one of the most important players at the club.

It has now been revealed that the former Everton man’s camp were not confident of getting a move before Leeds United swooped in towards the end of the window.

Serie A clubs eye late approach for Leeds United star Jaka Bijol

Jaka Bijol was one of the summer signings that took a while to adjust at Leeds United. He came in with the reputation of being one of the Serie A’s best, but spent the early months of the season on the bench. Farke explained that since the center back arrived late in pre-season, he had not formed a good understanding with either of Joe Rodon or Pascal Struijk, making it difficult to start him.

But since then, the Slovenian has become a fixture in the first team, especially since the switch to a back three. Bijol is finally getting consistent minutes, and now that could be disrupted. According to Gazzetta dello Sport, the defender is a serious January target for Fiorentina. The Serie A side’s other options in the window; seem to be unavailable, leaving the Leeds United man on the table. Corriere della Sera reported earlier this month that Fabio Paratici is keen on the 26-year old.

Leeds cannot lose defender at this part of the season

Any move for Bijol this month would be near impossible; Leeds United would not agree to the deal. The Whites are already short on defensive depth, and losing one starter at this point of the season is not ideal. Bijol has slowly worked his way into becoming a first choice option under Daniel Farke and will not be keen to let his spot go now.

There is no scenario where Fiorentina end up with the Slovenian international. He is now settled in the team and regularly playing, and his club will not be willing to sell him at this point of the season.
