Leeds United responded in style with a narrow 1-0 victory over Fulham at Elland Road on Saturday, a win that preserved their eight-point buffer above the relegation places.
The hosts dominated large spells of the contest but looked set to be frustrated by a goalless draw until the dying minutes. Lukas Nmecha eventually broke the deadlock in stoppage time, striking a late winner to secure maximum points.
Daniel Farke and his players celebrated at the final whistle after a gritty home success, another display that strengthened confidence within the camp that Premier League safety is firmly attainable.
However, the Leeds owners and Farke may have had a few chuckles after watching a Fulham player, whom they coveted last summer, struggle at Elland Road on Saturday.
Harry Wilson struggled to make an impact for Fulham against Leeds United
Leeds would have signed Harry Wilson on deadline day last summer had Fulham not changed their mind about letting him go with minutes left in the window.
Fulham’s decision has paid off as he has been their most threatening attacking player this season, scoring seven goals and registering four assists in the Premier League.
He was expected to make a big impact at Elland Road. However, the winger struggled as the Leeds defenders carried out a brilliant job on him.
Wilson has been brilliant this season. However, he failed to turn up against Leeds, and the home side scored a late winner to pick up all three points.
He has yet to sign a new contract with Fulham, and as things stand, he could still leave the club on a free transfer at the end of the 2025/26 campaign.
Should Leeds sign the winger if he is available on a free next summer?
Wilson was ready to join Leeds last year, and if they are still in the Premier League, there is no reason why he would not want to join in the summer.
The Welshman has been a big player for Fulham and has shown why Marco Silva is desperate to hold on to the winger in the ongoing transfer window.

Even in an average Fulham performance against Leeds, Wilson was one of their better players. He still provided three key passes in an average game.
If he is available on a free transfer, it makes complete sense for Leeds to try and take him to Elland Road in the next summer transfer window.
Wilson will add more Premier League experience and another top versatile forward to the Leeds squad.
