The 49ers have unveiled an ambitious plan to transform Leeds United into a £1bn club within five years. With wealthy new investors already on board, they have now made a key appointment to drive the club’s growth and boost its valuation.
Leeds have made a solid start to life back in the Premier League with eight points from their opening six league games. It has given the owners the push to really press the accelerator on the club’s development.
It emerged last month, through a leaked document, that Leeds are laying down plans, which they hope will turn the club into a £1bn outfit by 2030.
The plan involves developing the stadium, increasing their revenue and investing in players to turn Leeds into an established Premier League side again.
Rich new investors were brought in last month to put money into the club, and the 49ers have made a huge appointment for the growth of the Whites.
49ers appoint architect firm as part of the £1bn Leeds United plan

The key element of the 49ers’ plan to grow Leeds is the expansion of Elland Road, and the club are keen to start working on it as soon as possible.
Initially, KSS Design Group were appointed to carry out the work, having previously worked on the main stand redevelopment at Liverpool’s Anfield Stadium.
However, the 49ers re-tendered the project after submitting the planning permission, and a new firm has now been appointed.
According to the Architect’s Journal, the BDP group have won the contract to oversee the stadium upgrade, which will boost Elland Road’s capacity from 37,645 to 53,000.
BDP has a studio in Leeds, and recently completed a massive project in the form of building Everton’s new 52,888-seat Bramley-Moore Dock stadium.
Luke Harrison, architect director at BDP, said: “Elland Road is the heart of Leeds United and the city itself. We know what this club means to its supporters and the wider community, and that’s why we understand the responsibility to create a legacy here.
“With our studio team in Leeds already shaping development across the city, we can really bring the stadium expansion into our design thinking and take it to the next level.
“Our aim is simple: to design a ground that honours the club’s history, tells its story, and gives Leeds United and its fans a stadium that matches their ambition for the future.”
The 49ers are serious about growing Leeds
While the fans remain sceptical about the Americans, especially after a difficult summer transfer window, the 49ers remain committed to developing Leeds.
They have brought in new rich investors to add more financial power to the club and are now moving fast on the expansion of Elland Road.
The appointment of BDP is a concrete step in the club’s plans, signalling that the 49ers are serious about accelerating the club’s growth in the coming years.
If Leeds stay in the Premier League, the new stadium will really help the club grow their revenue to breach the £300m mark soon, as part of their £1bn plan.
Can you name the team Leeds United signed these players from in the 2000s?
