The 49ers surprised Leeds United fans last week when they pushed to sign Facundo Buonanotte. Many of the fanbase expected another quiet winter window with almost no activity.
That is what happened last year in the Championship, Farke did not get any reinforcements in January. But the club still ended up winning Premier League promotion. Leeds moved fast to sign the attacking midfielder as they prepare for the rest of the season. The Whites are just above the relegation zone, but had a small cushion.
In the Premier League, things can change very quickly, especially on the league table. West Ham have been busy adding reinforcements, with Forest set to follow suit. This is why Leeds adding some firepower was very necessary this month.
Leeds United plans for Facundo Buonanotte revealed
The Argentine is yet to make his first appearance for the team; he was on the bench this past weekend as the Whites beat Fulham at Elland Road. But even before that, it was reported that Buonanotte pushed for the move to West Yorkshire. He believed that he could become a key part of this Leeds team, and most importantly get more playing time. Graham Smyth revealed that talks between the club and the player started back in December.
Without even playing a single minute in a Leeds shirt, news has emerged about the 21-year old’s future at Elland Road. According to a source at TEAMtalk, Facundo Buonanotte will be a Leeds United player in the summer. He really likes the club, and Leeds are keen on the player too. If he stays fit, and performs as expected, a deal will be wrapped up in the coming months.
Very positive ambition from the ownership
Many Leeds fans had doubted the 49ers and their ambition from the summer. Complaints about missing out on key targets, and signing lesser quality players run rampant through the fanbase. But at this point of the season, fans can clearly see that the transfer window was a good one.
The Whites were able to get key depth in multiple areas, as well as potential starters for their long term future. Hearing this news about Facundo Buonanotte will be a huge boost, because it means that the ownership do not see Leeds in the Championship next season and will strengthen the team with more signings this month.
