Leeds United manager Daniel Farke is facing the threat of getting sacked at Elland Road. Results have been poor for a while, but the club may be finding it hard to line up his replacement at the moment.
Farke’s team have lost six of their last seven games and have suffered four defeats on the trot, including the 3-2 result against Manchester City at the Etihad.
Leeds have been considering options to replace their manager, with the 49ers looking at options who could come in now and be an upgrade on Farke in the middle of the season.
Brendan Rodgers and Ange Postecoglou have emerged as the top two contenders to become the Leeds manager. However, one of them could be cooling on the potential move.
Brendan Rodgers is not in a hurry to return to management amid Leeds United interest
Rodgers was said to be keen to hold talks with Leeds. However, the reality of the club’s position in the table may have dawned on the Irishman.
Journalist Pete O’Rourke indicated that the former Celtic boss is definitely on Leeds’ shortlist, but it is highly unlikely that he would be ready to become their manager in the middle of the season.
He stressed that Rodgers is not in a rush to return to management and will assess all his options carefully before making any decision on his next move.
“If they do decide to part with Daniel Farke, I am sure that Brendan Rodgers will be on that list”, O’Rourke said on Football Insider.
“Whether he’s high up on that list or not, that remains to be seen. Brendan Rodgers is a top manager; he’s Premier League proven from his time at Liverpool, Leicester, and he’s had a lot of success up at Celtic as well.
“Whether he would be interested in a move to Leeds and a potential relegation fight, that’s open to debate. I don’t think Brendan Rodgers right now is in any rush to return to management.
“Obviously, it was a difficult end to his time up at Celtic, but he’s probably one of the top available managers right now.”
Leeds need a firefighter
Rodgers is an experienced manager with a proven Premier League track record with Swansea, Liverpool and Leicester City. It’s no surprise that Leeds are looking at him.

However, it has been a while since Rodgers has managed a team who are struggling to survive in the Premier League, and that may require different skills.
Leeds would want to hold talks with Rodgers over a deal. However, Leeds may need to bring in someone more adept at working with a limited squad.
Whether Leeds would be ready to back a Rodgers or Postecoglou to bring in the level of attackers needed to implement their style in the winter window remains to be seen.
However, at the moment, Leeds need a firefighter who can come in and get the best out of a limited squad.
