Leeds United continue to be busy in the January transfer market with just a week remaining before the deadline, as they look to strengthen their squad further.
Working within tight financial limits, the Whites have already improved their attacking options by securing Facundo Buonanotte on loan from Brighton after he rejected an identical move last summer.
Leeds are also weighing up striker targets and are understood to be exploring a deal for Wolves forward Jorgen Strand Larsen, which could potentially become a club-record signing this winter.
The Whites are keeping other options open as well, and the club are now pressing forward with an attempt to sign Harry Wilson again late in the winter transfer window.
Leeds want to sign Harry Wilson before next week’s transfer deadline
Wilson was a whisker away from joining Leeds on deadline day last summer. However, Fulham decided against selling the winger with minutes left in the window.
Fulham have been trying to convince him to sign a new contract, but the winger has paused negotiations on a fresh deal until he has clarification over manager Marco Silva’s future.
Like Wilson, Silva’s contract runs out at the end of the season, and there is no clarity on whether he will be at Craven Cottage next season.
Fulham’s move for Manchester City attacker Oscar Bobb shows that they could consider selling Wilson towards the end of the winter transfer window.
According to Sportsboom, Leeds are actively looking to try and sign the Fulham star in the ongoing winter window.
Wilson, 28, is enjoying the best form of his career, having registered 17 goals and assists across his last 17 appearances for club and country, and is now drawing interest from across the Premier League.
Leeds have reignited interest in him, but they are facing competition from Aston Villa, Crystal Palace and Everton.
Leeds fans will be nervous about this one
The Whites were left embarrassed on deadline day when Fulham pulled the plug on a deal that Leeds thought was clear to go through.
Leeds were left scrambling and ended up adding no more attackers. The Whites similarly need attacking signings in the winter transfer window as well.
Jorgen Strand Larsen is keen to join Leeds, but the club do not have a deal in place with Wolves, who are pushing to get the highest price for the Norwegian.
| Competition | Games | Goals | Assists |
|---|---|---|---|
| Premier League | 22 | 8 | 4 |
| FA Cup | 1 | 1 | 1 |
| EFL Cup | 3 | 0 | 0 |
| Total | 26 | 9 | 5 |
Another move for Wilson makes sense given his form this season, but Leeds must be careful that they are not left wanting towards the end of the window again.
If they again publicly fail to sign the Fulham star in the coming days, it would cause major embarrassment and bring more scrutiny on the way the 49ers operate in the transfer window.
