Leeds United made some incredible signings over the summer that have played a pivotal part in the success Daniel Farke’s side has enjoyed so far this season.
Due to his incredible goalscoring form so far this campaign, naturally, most of the praise has been directed towards Dominic Calvert-Lewin, with Chelsea manager Liam Rosenior being the latest to praise the striker.
James Justin has proven to be another fantastic Leeds signing after initially arriving with not much fanfare. The 27-year-old’s versatility has been a valuable commodity for Farke this season.
However, one signing in particular has endured a disastrous start to life in West Yorkshire, with the 49ers reportedly lining up a replacement for him already.
Leeds United eye summer transfer for new goalkeeper
Lucas Perri, 28, has been less than convincing in goal since his big-money move from Lyon in the summer.
The goalkeeper position was evidently one that needed to be addressed by the 49ers ahead of the Premier League campaign, and it seems as though Leeds’ owners have already admitted defeat after realising the Brazilian is clearly not the long-term solution for United in between the sticks.
According to a report from Football Insider, Leeds are said to be targeting a new starting goalkeeper at Elland Road before next season, effectively putting an end to the disastrous Perri experiment.
Farke is said to be aware that goalkeeper is a key position that needs to be strengthened if the Whites want to go on and establish themselves as a Premier League outfit, news that will be well received by Leeds supporters.
Lucas Perri has been horrendous for Leeds this season
Perri’s form has been so bad that he has lost his place in the starting XI to Karl Darlow, who by no means is the perfect goalkeeper, but Farke deploying the Welshman seems to be the lesser of two evils at this moment in time.
Perri’s last Premier League appearance for Leeds came over a month ago in the seven-goal thriller against Newcastle, which Leeds ultimately lost 4-3.
The spotlight was once again on Perri, who put in another poor performance, which cost Leeds a valuable point.

Leeds’ upcoming FA Cup tie with Birmingham this weekend may be the last chance Perri gets to impress for Leeds, otherwise his tenure at the club could be cut short before it even gets going.
