The ending of the summer window was a hectic one for Leeds United. And some fans still believe the club should have done better.
After spending over £100 million and bringing in 10 new players, you would expect the fanbase to be happy with the recruitment. Unfortunately, most of them were furious that the club decided not to improve on their options in attack. Leeds added serious depth in defence, signed a new goalkeeper and bolstered the midfield with the additions of Anton Stach and Sean Longstaff.
They complained about the free transfers of Lukas Nmecha and Dominic Calvert-Lewin; but the duo have proven themselves so far this season.
Harry Wilson never wanted to move to Leeds United
Much has been made of the chaotic ending to the summer, where Leeds rushed to find alternatives after missing out on their top targets. They have a failed move for Facundo Buonanotte and had a late bid rejected for Fulham star Harry Wilson.

The Welsh international recently spoke to Sky Sports over what happened on deadline day. Wilson indirectly said that his mind was never to leave the London club in the near future:
“Fulham is somewhere I wanted somewhere to call home. For the last four-and-a-half years, it’s somewhere I’ve been really, really happy here.
“I feel like we’ve had some amazing times together, we’ve won the Championship, we’ve had three solid years in the Premier League and I’m hoping this will be another one.
“But this next contract has got to be right for me and my family. So yeah, we’ll see what happens.”

Big mistake by the 49ers
Fortunately for the club, they managed to sign some gems in Calvert-Lewin and Nmecha. But as seen this season, that has not been enough – there has been a distinct lack of productivity in other areas in the attack. Outside the two center forwards, the team cannot boast of players who have directly contributed to goals this season.
| Player | Goals Scored |
|---|---|
| Dominic Calvert-Lewin | 7 |
| Lukas Nmecha | 4 |
| Anton Stach | 3 |
| Joe Rodon | 2 |
| Noah Okafor | 2 |
The plan of focusing all the attention on signing players in defensive areas before moving to the attack backfired. And because of that the club missed out on some serious talent. With January just around the corner, fans will be hoping the 49ers do not make the same mistake twice.
