Leeds United already have their eye on Premier League promotion and are in the driving seat with four games to go. Winning the Championship could also be on the agenda if Daniel Farke plays his cards right.
This year might bring some relief to Leeds fans who witnessed the heartbreak of the play-off final loss to Southampton last summer. That result set off a series of events that lead to multiple exits that summer. Leeds lost Archie Gray, Glen Kamara, and Georginio Rutter among a whole host of other names.
This summer might be the opposite – if the club do win promotion, it opens doors for players to join them as they prepare for Premier League football.

After how well the team has performed this season, there is no surprise that some of the club’s first team stars are already being linked with moves away from Elland Road.
According to TEAMtalk, Illia Gruev has been the subject of interest from multiple clubs around Europe. Sources have said that some teams are interested in his future at Leeds United. Gruev is said to be rather happy in West Yorkshire and is in no hurry to leave. However, the 24-year old does not want another season in the Championship, and could force his way out if Leeds fail to secure promotion.
The Bulgarian was signed for £4million in 2023, and his current value is said to be over £10-15million as of last summer according to reports.
Illia Gruev is a key cog in midfield
The Bulgarian has been a key influence in the team since he started getting regular appearances. He is the perfect complement in midfield to the likes of Ao Tanaka and Ethan Ampadu. One thing that is often underrated about the 24-year old is his passing and playmaking.

Gruev is among the top of the players in the Championship when it comes to these metrics. The Leeds man is near the top of the league in Successful passes, accuracy and chances created when it comes to midfielders. He can pick a pass and dictate the tempo in the middle of the park. The midfielder is also no slouch defensively as he can hold his own in duels.
After this season, there is no surprise that he is being linked with European clubs. Leeds must do everything possible to keep him at Elland Road.
