Leeds United are in the market for a striker as Daniel Farke urges the club to bring in the attacking reinforcements needed to compete in the Premier League. He believes his attacking options ahead of the start of the season are weaker compared to what he had in the Championship last year.

The Leeds boss has been vocal about the need for new faces in the final third of the pitch, and is insistent that, as things stand, his squad are not ready to undergo the long and hard grind of a Premier League season with a serious paucity of options when it comes to strikers and wide players.

The Whites are working hard behind the scenes to adhere to the manager’s demands, and the club are aiming to bring in a striker, a versatile attacking midfielder and winger before the transfer window closes on 1st September.

Farke would prefer the incoming striker to be someone with Premier League experience, and Leeds have been in conversations with several forwards who have had the experience of playing in the English top-flight.

Can you name these 10 former Leeds United defenders?

Dominic Calvert-Lewin holds talks with Leeds United after sacking his agent

The 28-year-old striker is a free agent after he left Everton at the end of last season, following the end of his contract with the club.

Several Premier League clubs have shown an interest in the forward, who scored 57 times in the Premier League for Everton, but he is yet to secure a move.

According to talkSPORT, the forward has sacked his agent and has taken control of negotiations over his future personally.

It has been claimed Leeds are one of the three Premier League clubs the striker has spoken to since getting rid of his former representative.

Leeds hold a serious interest in the forward, and have been considering getting their hands on him this summer.

His Premier League experience makes him an attractive target for Leeds, but the club have worries over his recent injury record.

Calvert-Lewin is also not in a hurry to make a decision and wants to consider all his options before picking his next club in the ongoing transfer window.

Can he be trusted to last a season?

Leeds cannot afford to take gambles on the striker they sign, and most importantly, he needs to remain fit for most of the season.

The Whites want their striker signing to lead the line and be the club’s first-choice number 9 in the Premier League, as they have bench options in their squad.

However, Calvert-Lewin’s recent injury record doesn’t inspire confidence, and it is one of the reasons why Everton were happy to let him go this summer.

If they decide to sign him this summer, Leeds would be gambling on the forward remaining fit for most of the season, and that would be a risk.

However, his Premier League experience and the ability to score goals in the top flight make him a serious consideration at Elland Road.
