The game against Arsenal really showed a lot of what Leeds United lack in the team. Aside the fact that the team were outmatched quality-wise, the play on the pitch was also a huge problem.

Leeds could barely get out of their own half, or get the ball to their attackers. Joel Piroe, Wilfried Gnonto and Dan James were almost anonymous during the game. Even in the Everton game where the team dominated and had most of the ball, some of these issues still persisted.

It is part of the reason Daniel Farke has called on the club to add some quality to the attack. The Whites also need players that can finish chances, which has also been a huge issue, especially in the EFL Cup loss to Sheffield Wednesday.

Leeds United target left out of squad once again

On Wednesday night, Brighton fielded a much changed team in their cup win over Oxford United. Surprisingly, Facundo Buonanotte missed out on the squad once again, even when the team was full of U21 players. Reports earlier this week suggest that Leeds are leading the race to sign the attacking midfielder, Brighton have already told him he can leave before the window closes.

Other clubs around Europe are interested, but the Seagulls prefer a move to a team in England.

Club in need of a creative spark

The lack of a creative spark has been pretty evident in these past few games. Against Arsenal, the team needed that one player who could thread a pass into the front three. Leeds needed someone to get on the ball and make things happen; someone who could dribble and create chances. Brenden Aaronson played as a number 10 last season, but he lacks the creativity to do that at the Premier League level.

Emi Buendia is also an option

Aston Villa’s Emi Buendia is also another realistic target for Leeds. Reports this week have indicated that he is having thoughts over his future. Unai Emery is happy to have him around  the team, but if a good offer comes in, he may be tempted to leave. A reunion with Daniel Farke could be on the cards if Leeds United push to make a move happen.
