Saturday’s night win over Crystal Palace came as a surprise to most Leeds United fans. But the Whites’ home form continues to be their strength as they push for survival in the Premier League.
Things have turned around at Elland Road in the past couple of games; it was only last month where the club was in the relegation zone, and Daniel Farke was tipped to be sacked. Since losing to Manchester City a few games ago, the club have now found something, and have gone four games unbeaten, recording a win over Chelsea and holding Liverpool to a draw.
They continued their run last week, salvaging a draw against Brentford, their first away point on the road since beating Wolves in September.
NBC pundit says Leeds United star Ethan Ampadu has been underrated this season
Saturday night’s performance against Oliver Glasner’s side was full of great performances. Dominic Calvert-Lewin stole the headlines with his brace, and Anton Stach sealed the game with an amazing free kick. Among the best players on the night, there was special praise for captain Ethan Ampadu.
NBC Sports pundit Robbie Earle said that the Welshman has been one of the best players week in week out in the league:
“He’s (Ampadu) one of those players that every time I see Leeds, I see the same level of performance from Ampadu.
“I see others around him playing some better on the odd day, many worse, not putting in the effort.
“This guy delivers the same thing week in, week out, and if you’ve got eleven Ethan Ampadu’s, you will stay in the Premier League, and I don’t think he gets enough credit,”

Midfielder is the driving force behind the team
In Daniel Farke’s system this season, the attacking threat has been provided by Anton Stach and Sean Longstaff before his injury. Which leaves the more defensive side of the game to Ampadu. The midfielder provides a solid base for the team to attack. His ability to win his duels in the middle of the park has been key this season.

Leeds never look overrun in the middle of the park due to his presence. And Robbie Earle was right saying he is underrated; because his role does not allow him to be involved in the attack and score goals often, he rarely gets the headlines.
