Jarrod Bowen’s brutally honest verdict on Leeds United and Elland Road

Leeds United managed to make Elland Road a fortress last season when they won promotion to the Premier League. The Whites were undefeated from January 2025 till the end of the campaign as they won the Championship.

Before their opener this campaign, Daniel Farke urged the fans to continue to create the atmosphere that unsettles opponents. And it worked when Leeds beat Everton in their first ever game in the league. Then the team went on to face Newcastle, and held Eddie Howe’s side to a goalless draw in a very impressive defensive performance.

Leeds have lost just one game in front of their home crowd; a narrow loss to Spurs. And they could have gotten a result if they managed to bury their chances.

This week, the Whites are back at home as they host West Ham. Daniel Farke’s men will be reeling after a shocking defeat to Burnley at Turf Moor. The Hammers have been in terrible form this season, and have won just one game. New manager Nuno Espirito is yet to record a win since he took over, which makes this upcoming game very important.

West Ham and England star Jarrod Bowen has been speaking about how it feels to play at Elland Road as the visiting team:

“We play on Friday at Elland Road, a really difficult place to go. That’s a challenge that you’ve got to stand up to.

“Having played there before, it’s a difficult place to go.”

Bowen also urged his team to keep working and try to win their next game.

“In this situation, you have to hit every challenge head-on. That’s the only resolution for the situation that you’re in.

“You’ve got to roll your sleeves up, dig in and work, and I’m confident things will change.”

Leeds United need a result on Friday

Daniel Farke needs a result, and so do the fans. If Leeds lose again, that is three defeats in their last four games – basically relegation form. But looking at the recent results of West Ham, the players should be confident of getting a result. Especially in front of their home crowd.
