A coup – Leeds United urged to sign 22-year-old Premier League ace

Leeds United sit third in the Championship following Saturday’s defeat at Blackburn Rovers. However, they are still a firm contender to earn automatic promotion to the Premier League at the end of the season.

The Whites fans are already clamouring for new signings in the winter window to push Leeds to get promoted back to the Premier League in the latter half of the campaign.

Daniel Farke is keen to add to his squad and is aware that he will need reinforcements to ensure Leeds do not lose steam towards the end of the season, which many felt was the reason for the Whites missing out on finishing in the top two last season.

The Leeds boss wants to add to a few areas of their squad but he is said to be keen on having one more creative midfielder apart from Brenden Aaronson.

The Whites are looking at several players, including Tyler Morton, and the club are exploring the possibility of signing a few players in the January transfer window.

Leeds have had their eyes on someone from the Premier League in the summer and they have been linked with reviving their interest in him.

Former Leeds star urges club to make their move

James McAtee is someone Leeds considering signing last summer but Manchester City decided against letting him go.

However, the 22-year-old has played just one minute of Premier League football this season despite the team’s struggles in the last few weeks.

He is way down the pecking order at the Etihad and there are suggestions that he could be loaned out in the winter window.

Former Leeds goalkeeper Paul Robinson admitted that it would be massive if Leeds managed to sign the attacking midfielder in January.

He stressed that McAtee needs a loan move to play more football and the Whites would do well to ensure that the midfielder ends up at Elland Road for the latter half of the season.

“For Leeds, it’d be a real coup”, Robinson said on the Insider Podcast.

“You look at McAtee now you look at we talk all the time about Pep’s injury crisis if you like that he’s had this season, the amount of players that he’s had missing, McAtee still hasn’t had a look in the Premier League.

“All his minutes have come away from the Premier League, he doesn’t really get an opportunity.

“A loan deal is probably more sensible for him in January.”
