Leeds United managed another huge result as they continue to be resilient in the fight for relegation. For one of the worst away sides in the league, their last two results tell another story.
They made a huge comeback from two goals down against Chelsea a few weeks ago, and have now stolen a huge point off Aston Villa this afternoon. The Villans had dropped points in just two home games prior to facing Daniel Farke’s side on Saturday.
But Leeds had their tails up from the start of the game; their energy and pressing quickly set the tone. They made sure to be straight on the ball anytime a Villa player received it, and it worked like magic in the first half. Unai Emery’s side had almost no answers to Daniel Farke’s tactics at the beginning of the game.
Anton Stach’s free kick sends Leeds United fans wild
Things went from bad to worse for the hosts when Anton Stach scored a glorious free kick before half time. Fans were ecstatic, as it was not the first time the German midfielder had scored from a direct free kick during this campaign:
”ridiculously good goal from Stach” one Leeds fan posted on Twitter/X.
Another added: ”What a fantastic goal from Anton Stach”
Some were in disbelief that the German managed to score from that range: ”An absolutely beautiful freekick from stach”
”Anton Stach that is absolutely sensational” one fan also posted.
Many thought the Leeds United midfielder had won the game with that effort, as Villa failed to muster a reply for over 80 minutes. The home side took their chance late in the game as Tammy Abraham equalized just before full time.

Survival is on the cards
A result like this is a huge boost for Leeds United in the race for survival. Getting a point off one of the top teams in the league is a confidence booster; the Whites can now go into other games for the rest of the season knowing they can get points from almost anywhere. 11 games to go, Daniel Farke and his men know that they cannot drop the ball at any time if they want to keep another season in the top flight.
Farke seems to have found a formula that works away from home; after the Chelsea bluneder that almost cost them points, the club now looks more solid away from home. Today against Aston Villa, they did not give the home side any breathing space, limiting them to crosses from out wide.
