Leeds United are under real pressure after winning just one of their last five Championship games. Their automatic promotion hopes are tottering, and they are in desperate need of a point ahead of visiting Kenilworth Road to take on Luton Town on Saturday.
Luton are 23rd in the Championship table, and are fighting hard to survive in the league this season. However, they are going into the weekend clash in better form than Leeds.
The Hatters beat Hull City last weekend and have won three of their last six league games. Luton are backing themselves to get a result against a Leeds side who look weary.
Luton have also got a few of their top players back in the team ahead of the Leeds clash, but they will still be missing a number of first-team stars from the line-up on Saturday.
As many as five players could be missing from the Leeds United game
Luton got Tahith Chong back in the team in their win over Hull City and he played 45 minutes at the MKM Stadium last weekend.
However, there is no clarity on whether winger Isaiah Jones will be fit to play against Leeds this weekend. He sat out the game against Hull City.
He suffered a knock on international duty and there is no guarantee that he will be ready to play at Kenilworth Road on Saturday.
Jacob Brown is a long-term absentee due to an ankle injury, and the Leeds United encounter will come too soon for England Under-21 defender Teden Mengi, who is recovering from a calf injury.
Shandon Baptiste and Marvelous Nakamba are unlikely to be risked despite returning to individual training on the grass following recovering from calf injuries.
Leeds likely to have a clean bill of health
Wilfried Gnonto returned to action last weekend, and even Ethan Ampadu played against Swansea despite just recovering from a knee injury.
The duo are likely to be fitter after another week’s training, and Daniel Farke has most of his best players fit and ready for selection against Luton Town.
There are still question marks around Patrick Bamford’s fitness, but don’t think anyone at Leeds is holding their breath for the striker to return.
Can you name these past and present Leeds United players?
It’s time the Leeds players step up to the plate this weekend and calm down the atmosphere around the club with a solid performance and three points.
Farke has been urged to make changes to the starting eleven to get a reaction from the players. It remains to be seen whether he sticks or twists.
