Leeds United made a whole host of signings last summer as they prepared to bounce back from the playoff final defeat.
Losing to Southampton set off a chain of events, which lead to the club losing some of their best players. Leeds went into this season with a significantly weaker team. There were no massive upgrades in the team despite losing Crysencio Summerville, Archie Gray and Georginio Rutter.
Despite this, it was the lesser known names that ended up being the stars of the transfer window. Ao Tanaka and Manor Solomon were instrumental as Leeds won the Championship and gained promotion this past season.

Solomon will return to Spurs, after his loan deal expired on Tuesday. Many fans would think Tanaka and Solomon were the only signings last season but they would be wrong. Largie Ramazani and Isaac Schmidt were also brought in by the club, but the duo were rarely used during the campaign. Both saw some game time in the final stretch of the season.
Daniel Farke’s decision could come back to bite the club. Schmidt’s agent Baykal Bellusci has hinted to Swiss outlet Blick, that his client could leave Elland Road this summer:
“Isaac played as a left-back for a long time, and we discussed with the club that there was a larger market for the right-back position. The decision to switch Isaac to the right led to the transfer and his call-up to the national team.
“He has developed, matured as a player, and proven himself with the national team. In a World Cup year, the top priority shouldn’t be to focus on finances. Instead, it’s all about one thing: Where can I play the most games to prove myself? I’m convinced we’ll find a very good solution for him this summer.”
Isaac Schmidt yet to show full potential
Schmidt was one of the least used players last season; he played just 71 minutes and failed to start a single game. He was only called on by Farke late on in games to secure the result.

Based on his last season in Switzerland, we can see he is a defensively solid fullback who is great on the ball. Schmidt ranked highly in duels and tackles won. And was a dribbling menace on the overlap. If Leeds are high on him, he can slot in Junior Firpo’s role next season.
Give the kid a break. He has been patient and from the limited time he had last season I didn’t think him bad at all
