Once upon a time there was plenty of hype surrounded Arsenal prospect Ainsley Maitland-Niles. However, now at 23 years of age his career has failed to get going like many anticipated. Come the summer he’s set to leave Arsenal on a permanent basis having failed to make any real impression at West Brom. But who are the favourites to secure his signature?
Maitland-Niles made his senior England debut less than a year ago. Five caps later and he’s struggling to live up to his potential. He’s clearly been deemed surplus to requirements at the Emirates but there’s certainly a good player still in there and clubs are queuing up to take him away from Arsenal this summer.
Leading the chase is Crystal Palace. The London club is 4/1 according to SkyBet to be Maitland-Niles next home. Fellow London club West Ham are also in the race for his signature. The Hammers have had an outstanding season and bringing in the versatile Englishman could be a savvy bit of business to continue their development.
Speaking of clubs looking to build on a good season, Leeds United returned with a bang this season and will be hoping to recruit well in the summer so they can build on a great first season back in the big time. They’re 6/1 to sign Maitland-Niles.
Other front-runners include Wolves and Leicester. The former have struggled this season and need a bit of a revamp whilst Leicester will likely need more quality players to pick from as they look to compete on two fronts next year with Champions League football all but certain.
Other clubs are also being tipped to make a play for the Arsenal man including North London rivals Tottenham and French club Monaco.
