Leeds United head to Merseyside to face Everton at the Hill Dickinson Stadium on Monday night, but results elsewhere this weekend have increased the pressure on Daniel Farke’s side.
West Ham’s victory over Sunderland has reduced Leeds’ advantage to just five points, while Bournemouth’s 3–2 home win against Liverpool lifted them to 13th in the table.
Despite that, Leeds have lost only once in their last nine matches and will take confidence into the trip, particularly with Everton having already suffered four home defeats in the Premier League this season.
Even so, the weekend’s results have tightened the picture, and Leeds will be eager to secure a positive outcome to maintain a healthy buffer above the relegation zone for the remainder of the campaign.
Alan Shearer has predicted the Everton vs Leeds game
The former England captain and the Premier League’s all-time top scorer pointed at the shock win Everton pulled off away at Aston Villa in their last game.
However, he insisted that he has been delighted with the way Leeds have played and how Daniel Farke has handled the pressure at Elland Road this season.
He is certain that Leeds will not walk away from Merseyside empty-handed and has backed them to get a positive result against Everton on Monday night.
Shearer said on The Metro: “What a result for Everton last week at Villa; not many thought they could go there and win.
“But I’ve been impressed with Leeds, just their attitude and how the manager has them playing. I think they’ll go to Goodison Park [the Hill Dickinson Arena] and get something.
“Prediction: Draw.”
Leeds have more than a decent chance of getting a result at Everton
Leeds fell to a narrow 4–3 defeat away at Newcastle United, but their recent away form has highlighted a growing resilience.
They have picked up draws against sides such as Liverpool and Brentford, while their strong home form at Elland Road has helped push them up to 16th in the table.
Another stern test lies ahead at Everton, yet Leeds have shown enough in recent weeks to suggest they are capable of getting something from Monday night’s visit.
| Record | Played | Wins | Draws | Losses | Goals For | Goals Against | Goal Difference | Points Per Game |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Home form | 11 | 4 | 3 | 4 | 14 | 15 | -1 | 1.36 |
| Away form | 11 | 5 | 2 | 4 | 10 | 10 | 0 | 1.55 |
| Overall | 22 | 9 | 5 | 8 | 24 | 25 | -1 | 1.45 |
The Toffees sit 11th, seven points ahead of Leeds, but have struggled for goals, and the absence of Jack Grealish is expected to further blunt their attacking threat.
As things stand, Leeds will feel they have a genuine chance of returning home with at least a point, and potentially even a statement away win.
