Leeds United have won just two of their last five league games, but the Whites are still sitting at the summit of the Championship table. They will look to find their groove soon as they approach the remaining eight games of the season and they have received a massive vote of confidence from Don Goodman.
Daniel Farke will hope to get his Leeds United players back on track and push them towards winning all three points from their home game against Swansea City on Saturday.
The Whites will look to get over their recent wobble, and they will back themselves to get results in their eight remaining games, with six of their opponents currently in the bottom half of the table.
Don Goodman is not a hugely popular figure for Leeds fans, but even the Sky Sports pundit believes the Whites should back themselves to get the results they need.
Leeds United are the best team in the Championship – Don Goodman
Sheffield United and Burnley are snapping at the heels of Leeds, and only two of these three teams will finish in the automatic promotion slots.
However, Goodman insisted the biggest factor at this stage of the season is that Leeds are still the best team in the Championship, regardless of their recent results.
He conceded that having the best squad doesn’t mean much but it should help Leeds to get into the remaining eight games of the season in a positive frame of mind.
“I think the biggest factor in their favour for me, and I say this with all due respect to Sheffield United and Burnley, Leeds United are the best team in the league”, Goodman said on the Essential EFL Podcast.
“I don’t hesitate to say that.
“Now that doesn’t mean they will get the most points, but for me, they are the best team in the league.
“That mentality within the group needs to be, ‘we are the best team and things can go wrong, but we can still recover’.”
For a change, Goodman is right
Goodman previously insisted Leeds would get automatic promotion and he has not changed his tune regardless of the recent results for the Whites.
He is not the first person to claim that Leeds are the best team in the Championship this season, but their recent form has coloured some of the predictions.
Can you name these past and present Leeds United players?
However, Farke will back his players to get their season back on track and ensure the Whites get the job done within the 46-game season, unlike last year.
Leeds have a real chance to put their recent form behind them and put Swansea to the sword at Elland Road to prove the doubters wrong this weekend.
