Last night, Leeds United kept their nerve in a penalty shootout to defeat Fulham and book their place in the fourth round of the Carabao Cup as they look to build some much needed momentum after a difficult start to the season.
It was a particularly special night for one Leeds star. Dan James was helicoptered in after his partner had given birth to feature in the cup win against former Premier League side Fulham in London.
James was making only his third appearance for the club yesterday and is clearly impressing his teammates if Stuart Dallas’ Instagram post is anything to go by.
Dallas commended his teammate for showing his commitment to the cause and flying in last minute to play despite the importance of the day to him and his partner.
To do so shows he truly buys into the ideologies at Leeds. It perhaps shouldn’t surprise those who understand how eager he was to join United in his Swansea days before things fell apart culminating in a move to Manchester United.
Despite playing for Leeds’ biggest rivals, he’s fit right in and has impressed his new teammates in his short time at Elland Road.
After the win yesterday, Dallas took to social media to praise his side and specifically James. He said: “Very proud of the boys tonight. Congratulations to Stuart McKinstry and Joseph Gelhardt on your debuts and a special mention to Dan James an example to us all. Onto the next round. Thank you to our incredible support once again.”
