Leeds United’s cushion in the Premier League survival race has been cut significantly after the latest round of results brought them closer to the relegation zone.
West Ham’s victory over Fulham and Nottingham Forest’s draw against Manchester City on Wednesday night have only increased the pressure at the bottom of the table.
Leeds did themselves no favours either, slipping to a home defeat against Sunderland on Tuesday. As a result, they are now just three points above the drop zone with nine games remaining this season.
However, Tottenham are in a greater peril of relegation than Leeds, and they plunged to new depths with a 3-1 defeat at home against Crystal Palace on Thursday night.
Former Tottenham star questions the real quality of the Spurs players
Tottenham are just a point above the relegation zone and are on an 11-game winless streak in the league, their worst run of form in more than 50 years.
There are now calls for Spurs to sack interim boss Igor Tudor, who has been in charge of just three games. However, Les Ferdinand is unsure whether a new manager can get more out of the current group of players.
He pointed out that the same team finished 17th in the Premier League last season and does not believe that they have the quality to play any better at the moment.
Ferdinand said on Premier League productions: “I am looking at this Tottenham team thinking, whoever goes in there right now, are these players good enough?
“This is the same group of boys who finished 17th last season.
“Does another manager come in and do you see him getting a bounce out of these players?
“Or are they bouncing as high as they can?”
Leeds have a slight advantage over Tottenham in the race for survival
Leeds have lost back-to-back Premier League games for the first time since November, and other results this week didn’t help their cause either.
However, Daniel Farke’s men have every reason to feel they were desperately unlucky to lose both games due to questionable refereeing decisions.

Leeds have looked more resilient and competitive than Tottenham this season, despite spending only a fraction of the money the north London team forked out to build their squad.
At this point, West Ham and Nottingham Forest look more of a threat to Leeds’ Premier League survival than Spurs, who seem to be on a free fall.
