Leeds United are slowly upgrading areas of the squad this summer. The club have already made their first major signing this week, and could follow up with more.

Lukas Nmecha was a welcomed addition to the team. Leeds announced his arrival on a free transfer from Wolfsburg. The German forward will now offer some stern competition to Joel Piroe up front. There were initial concerns that the Dutchman would struggle to lead the line next season, and now he has someone to push him.

Another area Daniel Farke has been keen on improving is attacking midfield.

The Leeds boss has been trying to sign an attacking midfielder since last summer. But moves for Gus Hamer failed. Brenden Aaronson took up the role this past season, but his performances have not been convincing.

Now, the Whites have once again been linked with a move for Aston Villa’s Emi Buendia. Farke tried to sign the Argentine in January, but a move never materialized. According to Caught Offside, Villa are now open to selling him.

Villa News spoke to Martin Allen, who spoke about how much the club would sell Buendia for:

“It goes without saying that Villa have got to get the maximum fee out of him, as they do in every deal.

“He’s done well, so they’ve got to try and work with that.

“I think if they get £20m for him, they’ll be really happy, but they’ll try and push towards £30m.

“It would definitely be a good signing for Leeds because it’s so hard to score goals coming up to the Premier League.

Leeds need an upgrade on Brenden Aaronson

Aaronson had a decent season last year, but he looks far from being a player who can perform at a higher level. Buendia has experience in the Premier League, and has shown how good he can be.

Bringing the Argentine in on a cheap fee immediately boosts the quality in attacking midfield, and brings much needed competition for Aaronson.

Hamer better. Buendia ACL injury, has he FULLY recovered? Has he lost confidence? Hope Leeds Utd don’t pay more than £15m
even if he’s fit. Hamer the one to go for.
