Arne Slot makes Leeds United admission after victory against Inter Milan

Arne Slot Leeds United

Over the weekend, Leeds United recorded a huge result against Liverpool and Arne Slot. The Whites have turned their fortunes around after a difficult run of fixtures since the international break.

And with a huge win against Chelsea last week, and picking up a point against the Reds, they now sit just above the relegation zone. Daniel Farke’s tactical switch was key in both games as Leeds grabbed four points from a possible six. The 3-5-2 troubled Chelsea when they visited Elland Road, but the Reds were able to handle it for large parts of the game.

Farke switched back to the 4-2-3-1 which helped the Whites come from behind twice to grab a special point in front of their home crowd.

Arne Slot makes Leeds United claim after Champions League win

On Saturday, Liverpool boss Arne Slot was unhappy with the result against Leeds United, saying his side did not deserve to draw. And it seems he has carried this frustration into the week. On Tuesday night, the Reds beat Inter Milan away from home – just their second win in their last seven games.

What followed in the post-match press conference was surprising, as Slot was adamant that Leeds did not create much to win on Saturday:

“If you are talking about the 3-3 against Leeds, then yes we are relieved tonight.” he said speaking to Amazon Prime.

“We hardly conceded a chance against Leeds so for them to score 3 goals was disappointing for the lads. They were devastated to concede that goal in the last minute.

“Leeds hardly created a chance against us, they scored a penalty, a set-piece and yes they did score on very well-worked goal.

“So for me tonight the clean sheet against Inter Milan is pleasing but not a surprise, because we also played a very good game against Leeds.”

Liverpool boss is wrong

Arne Slot can complain all he wants but Leeds did create enough on Saturday but the statistics say otherwise. Yes, the Whites did not exactly create three high quality goals but they did create enough to score more than one chance.

Leeds United in the second half vs Liverpool
Statistic Leeds United
Goals 3
Expected Goals (xG) 1.23
Big Chances 2
Possession (%) 55%
Shots 7
Shots on target 5

Expected goals shows that, and Leeds also had two big chances on the night. Liverpool were not that great in front of goal either; they even benefitted from a defensive error to score. So Slot cannot outright say that Leeds should not have scored three goals. Daniel Farke and his side have taken their point, and the Reds boss has to deal with it.
