Leeds United had one of their best seasons in recent years between 2020 and 2022.
The Whites won promotion to the Premier League after winning the Championship. Marcelo Bielsa lead his side to 93 points and a whopping 77 goals scored that season. Leeds United made their mark in the first game in the Premier League in an exciting 4-3 loss to Liverpool at Anfield.
That summer was geared towards signing quality players that could help Leeds survive relegation. Robin Koch, Illian Meslier, Diego Llorente, Raphinha and Rodrigo Moreno were all recruited that summer.
It paid off massively for Leeds United who finished 9th in their first season back in the Premier League. Their goals and points tally that year made history; no other newly promoted side had more goals or points over the past 20 years.

One of Leeds’ best players within those years was Raphinha. The Brazilian joined from Rennes for just €18million. The forward made an immediate impact, winning over Elland Road fans with his performances. Raphinha scored 17 goals and 12 assists in two seasons in the Premier League before joining FC Barcelona for a huge €58million.
Since arriving in Spain, the Brazilian has been one of Barcelona’s best performers. This season, Raphinha has been on an impressive run; scoring seven goals in 13 league games.
According to Football365, Arsenal are willing to pay €90million for the forward. They will face heavy competition from Liverpool who are also in the race for the former Leeds United star. Arsenal are expected to push more to sign the Brazilian after a poor start to the season from Gabriel Martinelli and Raheem Sterling. Liverpool are also in the market for a replacement for Mohammed Salah who is set to leave at the end of the season.
Elland Road is missing a star forward
Since Raphinha left the club, there has not really been a replacement. Crysencio Summerville stepped up and delivered one of the best seasons in the Championship in recent years but was poached by the Premier League. Elland Road is still waiting for another mercurial wide player to raise the crowd.
Largie Ramazani has had a decent start to his Leeds career with three goals in six starts. When he recovers from injury, we will see if the Belgian has what it takes. Leeds United are also set to add another attacker in the January window, according to reports.
