Leeds United are still yet to decide on the futures of Sam Byram and Junior Firpo. The duo were expected to leave this summer when their contracts expired.
After winning the Championship, Byram gave a heartfelt speech about Daniel Farke and hinted at his future at the club:
“We’ve been working as a team to achieve promotion. That’s been the key focus.
“I’ve not hidden my love for the club and I’d love to stay next year. They know that.
“Now we’ve achieved the final target, I’m sure they’ll speak as a team, investors, everyone, and make a plan for the future. Hopefully, I’m part of that, and, if not, I’ll watch on and always be a supporter.”
Leeds then revealed when their retained list was published, that Firpo and Byram would hold talks with the club over new deals.

It has been over a week since that, and there have been no concrete developments. Junior Firpo has been in the news since, as he has been linked with multiple clubs across Europe. Just this past week, AC Milan added the 28-year old to their summer plans.
Leeds will push to keep at least one of them as their fullback depth is looking very thin. Jayden Bogle and Isaac Schmidt are the only first team options heading into the summer.
According to Football Insider, that is set to change – Liverpool have set a £12–15million price tag for Leeds target Kostas Tsimikas. The left back has been reportedly on the verge of being sold this summer, as the Reds target a new signing. Sources have also added that Tsimikas will be considered an ”immediate starter” if he arrives.
Tsimikas deal needs to be completed quickly
With the noise around Junior Firpo, the club needs to act fast with the Tsimikas deal. As it stands, there is a very high chance Firpo joins another club even before the transfer window opens. Leeds need depth and quality, and Tsimikas provides that. Keeping Sam Byram would also be a huge bonus to the squad.
