Back Daniel Farke in January for promotion push – Pundit’s message to Leeds United owners

Carlton Palmer has insisted that the Leeds United owners need to back Daniel Farke in January for that final push in the promotion race in the Championship this season.

Leeds are sitting in the top six early in the season but the supporters are grumbling with regards to the style of football they have seen at the start of the campaign.

The Whites have struggled to break down opponents and needed a late goal to seal the points against the ten men of Cardiff City last weekend.

However, there are calls for the Leeds fans to remain patient as many believe Farke is their best bet if they want to get promoted to the Premier League at the end of the season given his record.

There is sympathy for Farke given Leeds posted 90 points but still didn’t get promoted from the Championship last season.

Palmer wants the Leeds United owners to back their manager in January

The former Leeds midfielder still believes Farke will lead the club back to the Premier League but admitted there is increased pressure given the stadium plans they announced recently.

He expects Leeds fans to sell out a 53,000-seater Elland Road even in the Championship but conceded that the club are planning the revamp with the Premier League in their thinking.

The ex-Whites star insisted that the Leeds owners need to provide that one final push to Farke with new signings in January and light the fire on their promotion charge in the second half of the season.

“I still envisage Daniel Farke getting Leeds back to the promised land this season, but it does add increased pressure this season”, Palmer told the Football League World.

“Because you get there and you get increased revenue, and it is fantastic for the football club.

“Let me tell you, Leeds United supporters are absolutely fantastic, so even if they are still in the Championship they will still sell out 53,000, but that stadium and a club like Leeds United want to be back in the Championship.

“So come Christmas, the 49ers will do what they have to do so they have got to back Daniel Farke in the transfer market came January, and that will give them the final push to get up, and I believe they will do it this season.”
