This summer was a crucial point in the career of some Leeds United players. Many of them had to choose between staying at Elland Road or leaving to get more playing time.
Daniel Farke has been a fantastic coach for the Whites, but sometimes his decisions baffle fans. Last season, Largie Ramazani and Isaac Schmidt were added in the summer with hope that they would provide quality on the wing, and at fullback respectively. Injuries held both players back from getting some minutes early in the season.
But when both returned, they were sidelined and only made a few cameos till the end of the season. So this summer, Leeds let both players leave on loan – Ramazani to Valencia and Schmidt to Werder Bremen.

It is believed that Schmidt chose to move away from Elland Road to boost his World Cup hopes. The defender got a callup to the Swiss national team for this international break. He was on the bench for the win over Sweden, but failed to play a single minute. Switzerland face Slovenia this week, and reports have suggested that Schmidt has been ruled out with an injury.
Local media outlet Blick have confirmed that the defender picked up a foot injury and has already left the team camp. Reports suggest that he was in ‘severe pain’ after going down in training. Schmidt is yet to be assessed to confirm the extent of the injury.
Isaac Schmidt’s first team hopes could be over
Werder Bremen left back Felix Agu was ruled out for ‘several months’ due to injury, with many believing that Isaac Schmidt would take over. But with this news, the Leeds loanee could also be out for an extended period.

Schmidt has played 105 minutes this season, playing in four games. He is still yet to start a game in the Bundesliga. The defender has already scored one goal this season, and is averaging 1.5 tackles per game. In his last outing against St. Pauli he made 4/4 tackles in 45 minutes on the pitch. Hopefully he returns in time to play a bigger role down the line this season.
