Bamford makes decision on Leeds future amid Tottenham interest

The transfer window is coming to a close but there is still work to be done for Leeds, whose most recent business has been to convince Patrick Bamford that he should remain at the club.

The Harry Kane transfer saga that has occupied most headlines this summer could result in major ramifications for Leeds United. Manchester City are planning a fresh bid in the region of £125 million for Harry Kane, and if Spurs were to accept this bid then they would be on the lookout for a new striker.

The Telegraph have reported that Tottenham have looked at Patrick Bamford as a possible replacement and it’s easy to see why. Bamford scored 17 goals in Leeds United’s first season back in the Premier League, the 4th most of any player in the league and 2nd most of any English player behind Kane himself. An English forward amongst the goals is always a valuable asset to have, especially when you consider how close Bamford is to an England callup.

Bamford has reportedly only got 1 year left on his current deal, although some suggestions have been made that Leeds extended it by a year during the summer. However, the forward seems happy at Leeds following his best goal scoring year of his career and when you consider how much Bielsa has improved his overall game, it makes no sense as to why he would want to leave.

The Telegraph are also reporting that Leeds are understandably eager to tie him down to a new deal as soon as possible, as a forward with Bielsa’s seal of approval is seemingly difficult to come by. A Bamford sale works for nobody, and the expectation is that he will sign a new deal at Elland Road.
