Leeds United picked up a hard-fought point in a 0-0 draw against Newcastle United at Elland Road on Saturday. The Whites have picked up four points from their opening three Premier League games, and a few of the new signings are already proving their worth.
The Yorkshire giants are working hard behind the scenes to add more flair and goals to their squad before the end of the transfer window on Monday night. However, apart from their 5-0 drubbing at Arsenal, Leeds have looked solid defensively and robust in the middle of the park in the top tier.
Leeds spent the early part of the transfer window adding numbers and quality to their defence and midfield, and those two areas of the squad do not need strengthening despite a couple of big injuries at the start of the season.
Anton Stach has looked assured in midfield, but one more new signing is finding his feet at Elland Road after seemingly being down the pecking order of midfielders in the first couple of Premier League games.

Danny Murphy hails Leeds United new boy Sean Longstaff

Leeds signed Sean Longstaff from Newcastle United this summer to add some Premier League experience to their promoted squad ahead of their return to the top flight.
He didn’t start the first two Premier League games, but injuries to Ethan Ampadu and Ao Tanaka meant the midfielder was in the eleven when Leeds welcomed his former club Newcastle on Saturday.
He was brilliant in midfield as Leeds earned a huge point at home against a team that finished in the top four of the Premier League last season and will feature in the Champions League.
Danny Murphy admitted that he was outstanding at Elland Road on Saturday, and he believes that signing the former Newcastle star will prove to be a transfer masterstroke by Leeds.
“Longstaff is going to be one of the bargains of the summer. I think it was around £12m, rising to £15m”, Murphy said on BBC’s Match of the Day via MOT Leeds News.
“He was terrific for a couple of seasons at Newcastle and deserves all the plaudits.
“I thought he was outstanding today.”
Longstaff will be a huge player for Leeds
Longstaff was not one of the names the Leeds fans were looking forward to when their side earned promotion to the Premier League last season.
He was not the kind of signing that was going to make the headlines in West Yorkshire this summer, but Leeds moved early for him and got a deal done.
The midfielder has bags of Premier League experience and showed that when he stood tall against his former side at Elland Road on Saturday afternoon.
Longstaff is going to play a huge role if Leeds are to survive in the Premier League by the end of the 2025/26 season.
