BBC pundit ‘in love’ with Leeds defender

Matt Kilgallon said on BBC Radio Leeds that he is a big fan of Max Wober after Leeds United’s win over Southampton.

Leeds secured a crucial 1-0 win to move out of the relegation zone with Firpo scoring the only goal at Elland Road.

The Whites’ defence has improved so much since the start of the year with Kilgallon saying it’s down to the arrival of Max Wober. The Austrian was signed in the January transfer window. When he was in the team in his first seven games, the only team to score more than once against Leeds was Manchester United.

Kilgallon says Wober’s arrival has been really impactful:

“I like Wober, I really do. Some of his tackles, his timing is very good, isn’t it. His covering is good. It might be why Firpo’s playing well as well,” he told BBC Radio Leeds.

“As a back four today, they were solid. They played at the right time, but they also defended at the right time. Didn’t have loads to do. I think Wober made an unbelievable diving header.”

After their first win under Javi Gracia, Leeds face Fulham midweek in the FA Cup.
