Ben White next club odds: Surprising favourites emerge for Brighton star

Ben White has stepped up brilliantly to Premier League football since returning to Brighton following his promotion with Leeds last season.

The 23-year-old joined the Brighton academy in 2014 and worked his way up the football pyramid with a series of loan deals.

He spent the 2017/18 season on loan at League 2 side Newport County, helping them to an 11th place finish which was a huge leap from 22nd in the previous season. White also won Supporter’s Player of the Year for that season.

White spent the second half of the 2018-19 season on loan at Peterborough in League 1 where he made 15 league appearances as the Posh narrowly missed the playoffs by a single point.

The following year would be the most influential of his career as he played every single minute of Leeds United’s Championship-winning campaign in the 2019-20 season, winning their Young Player of the Year Award in the process and making the PFA Championship Team of the Season.

The Whites had a £25 million bid rejected for White last summer, who signed a new four-year contract with Brighton in September. However, many clubs are still watching the young centre-back, with Paul Robinson claiming “a lot of clubs will be looking to sign an elite level centre-back in the summer.”

And the latest betting odds suggest Paris Saint-Germain are the new surprise favourites to land the 23-year-old this summer after their odds shortened to 3/1.

Mauricio Pochettino is keen to bring a number of Premier League players to Paris this summer and he has pinpointed White as the perfect ball-playing centre-back.

The Argentine boss wants to put his own stamp on the PSG squad and will be given a big budget in the next transfer window.

Manchester United have also been strongly linked with White and they closely follow the French Champions in the running at 4/1, while Premier League rivals Liverpool are third favourites at 9/1.

Leeds are now 14/1 to bring White back to Elland Road, which looks increasingly unlikely given the emergence of Diego Llorente and Pascal Struik this season.

Arsenal are outsiders at 20/1 though the Gunners are believed to be looking for centre-backs this summer and White would suit Mikel Arteta’s style of play perfectly.

Latest Ben White next club odds (SkyBet):

PSG – 3/1
Manchester United – 4/1
Liverpool – 9/1
Leeds – 14/1
Arsenal – 20/1
