‘Best player on the pitch’- BBC pundit in awe of phenomenal Leeds talent

Leeds progressed to the round of 16 of the Carabao Cup on Tuesday night as they defeated Fulham 6-5 at Craven Cottage.

It was a mixture of first team players and under 23s for Bielsa’s side, but one player in particular caught the eye of BBC pundit Don Hutchinson. That player was of course England player of the year Kalvin Phillips.

Phillips was forced to play at centre back due to injuries and suspensions to Leeds’ other defensive options, but he was still ‘By far, the best player on the pitch.’ According to Hutchinson. ‘You watch him play, he glides through games and he sees the picture right in front of him.’

“Sometimes when you see a player and you think ‘he is going right to the very top’.” Phillips is already at the very top, as he was one of England’s best players in their Euro 2020 campaign that saw them reach the final for the very first time.
